Our Layouts – The Laxton End to End

Anyrail view of Laxton – an additional crossover has since been installed just after the grade crossing to support independent run arounds. We’ll update this in due course.

About Laxton

These HO scale modules are a 16’ by 2’ four board set up which provides three run round/passing loops, one on either side of the single track mainline and another at the grade crossing. The following industries are serviceable by rail: Lonestar Cold Store; Laxton Transload Center and Gillard Scrap & Salvage.

Looking down the first crossover after the TBR corner towards Lonestar. The tracks near right lead to Gillard Scrap and the Interchange loop respectively. The next pair of tracks lead to the team track in front of the transload centre and the transload bays themselves. You then have Lonestar and the head shunt.

Extended from a two-board setup originally named Lonestar, introducing the other industries at the right hand end (Laxton Transload and Gillard Scrap). The two tracks either side of the single track main were adjusted to serve as passing loops or a run round, and then later on during full integration to the general Thamesiders layout and specifications, an additional crossover was added to serve as an additional passing place for run arounds. A shorter board is usually added at the left hand side to serve as a lead, caboose or loco set out, however for setups like the End to End at the Berkshire Special, one of the straight “Dan” boards were used to provide a longer run.

When connected to the main layout, the right hand entry point is lined up with the remaining TBR boards, specifically the corner, to serve as an extend double track running/passing loop as well as an entry point via the APT junction onto the main line towards the bridge corner and Essex Ethanol.
