This year the Thamesiders, with confirmed support from the NMRA British Region, Orwell Models and Coastal DCC, will be hosting an open house this summer on 22 June at the Village Hall, St. Osyth, Essex, UK. The postcode for the hall is CO16 8PE and can be reached by public transport. Parking is available both on site and on the Longfields side street. We’ll be officially open to the public from 10am and will close at 3:30pm*. The hall itself is accessible for wheelchairs.
Facilities for tea and coffee are available at the hall, and we’re aiming to provide a small selection of cakes and biscuits. In exchange for these and admission, we kindly ask for donations to support the open house and the group itself.
The modelling focal points for the event will be the HO and N scale modular set ups in the main hall, however like last year we’re aiming to demonstrate T-Trak and On30.
All are welcome to come and visit, but if you are unable, we’re planning to run a live stream of the N and HO scale setups on both YouTube and the NMRA Interchange. However, please note with the Interchange the tiles and streams have been known to be small, so the YouTube link may be of better quality. Links to streams can be found here:
YouTube – https://youtube.com/live/cU87WEVc-4c?feature=share
Interchange (Discord) – The Interchange should have a dedicated event tile in preparation for a live share on one of the hangout rooms on the day.
Trade stands from Orwell and Coastal are planned for the annex, and we intend to have some bring and buy / previously enjoyed / second chance tables. We hope to have some representation from the NMRA itself in the form of officers in attendance, but we may not see specific stands this year.
*This year we’re not planning to break down the main scales on the Saturday afternoon because we’ve booked the hall up until the following afternoon. Anyone unable to make the 22nd are still welcome to come along on the 23rd, however we recommend doing so before mid day as we may want to break down and leave early. Also please note it may just be the two main scales left up on the 23rd as traders and refreshments currently are not planned for this extra day.
